Abstract

The topic discussed in this essay is the Buddhist understanding of nihilism by Keiji Nishitani ( 西谷啓治 1900-1990), a Japanese Buddhist philosopher of the Ky Što School. The thesis advanced in this paper is that Nishitani’s philosophical thought based on Buddhist insight could shed light on the discussion on the relation between Christianity, religion, and science in our age.
